Who am I?

I was born as the fourth child of a teacher father and a housewife mother from Kars. After successfully completing my primary and secondary education, I continued my education at Ağrı Health Vocational High School due to family reasons, aiming to quickly pursue a career. I graduated top of my class and worked night shifts as a nurse at Atatürk University School of Nursing. Following graduation, I taught at the Health Vocational High School for eight years. During this time, I completed my master's degree and began my doctorate. I worked at Atatürk University School of Nursing between 2000 and 2005. Since 2005, I have been working at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University, Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Nursing. In addition to my specialty in Public Health Nursing, I have been pursuing research focusing on Intercultural Nursing, Cultural Competence, and the Impact of Culture on Health since 2000. As a second university student, I graduated with honors from the Department of Sociology at Anadolu University in 2023. I continue to pursue further education to improve my skills.

I think I can best describe myself as my curiosity for cultural diversity. Meeting and exploring different cultures always excites me. I love traveling and collecting cultural experiences, and one of my biggest dreams is to explore these differences even further.

My greatest goal in life is to benefit people and create a truly positive impact. That's why I prioritize deepening my work and making a meaningful, not superficial, contribution. With this perspective, I've been focusing on culture for years.

My experience living in different regions and with people with diverse perspectives has taught me a great deal. Educating myself in boarding schools, working as a teacher for many years, and experiencing the transformation and growth that came from these experiences have been significant parts of my life. I still believe that change is an ongoing process, and I love following it.

On this journey, I've raised two children, and they are my greatest treasures. Spending time together and generating new ideas are among my most precious moments. "Be different, make a difference" is a sentiment I always share with both my children and my students.

My daughter, Eda Alkılıç, and my son, Arda Tor, are both young entrepreneurs. My daughter is the founder of zonedesign, and my son is the founder of vlatu'a. They always inspire me with their honesty and hard work.

One of the things that makes me happiest in life is being able to raise individuals who are beneficial to society.
